Trip 1, Day 10: Bozeman, Montana

thompsonmkk

We checked out the growing city of Bozeman for the final day of our trip, including going to the Museum of the Rockies, which mainly focuses on dinosaur fossils that had been found in Montana. The dinosaur bones were huge and they had a reconstructed T-Rex skeleton that was very interesting. This museum is a must-see for any dinosaur fanatics.

We devoted the afternoon to checking out more of Bozeman's brew pubs, including Madison River Brewing Company, MAP Brewing Company (with beautiful views of the mountains) and Sheriff Henry Plummer's Outlaw Brewing. A fitting way to finish the first of our Parks & Pubs trips.

Trip 1 to the national parks (and local pubs!) was a great success. We were fortunate with the weather on our trip. Although most mornings started cold (in the high 20s or 30s), once the sun was up we ended up with 65 to 75 degree days. However, traveling to this area during May is risky weather-wise, as the day after our departure, the highs in the area were only in the low 30s and snow was predicted in much of that region of Montana and Wyoming for the following three days. Although not all of the attractions at the parks were open either because we came prior to full season or because of COVID protocols, we enjoyed seeing as much as we did and did not have any real crowds to deal with.

Planning for our next trip is still underway, pending Kim's recovery from hip replacement surgery last week. We'll post our next itinerary as soon as it is finalized!
